That's right. Jeremy Balmer had been an athlete in high school and was in unchartered waters when he tipped the scale at 270. It's never easy to lose weight, but as an athlete, Jeremy went back to what he knew, the weight room. Progress was slow...but then Skyzone entered the picture and frustration gave way to FUN!

Back to Jeremy's story, I'm going to let him take it from here,
"My weight loss story began December 2013; I was weighing in at the heaviest I had ever been at 270 pounds with 35% body fat. I began to realize something had to be done and needed to be done soon. I was always feeling lethargic and was sleeping all the time and never really felt healthy. In the past, I tried different "yo-yo" diets to help me with my weight loss and I never stuck with them. This time around I was going to make this work even if I had to die trying. I was always fit as a child and was very active. I played sports in high school such as wrestling and football. Being this heavy was foreign to me and I knew it was going to be a difficult start, but I was optimistic about it and my commitment was unwavering.
To begin my weight loss, I started working out at my local gym using techniques that I learned while growing up and things I knew worked for me in the past. My training included lifting weights up to 5 days a week. In addition to my weight training at my local gym, I started exercising at Skyzone 3-4 days a week for cardio. The most important change in my lifestyle was my diet where fruits and vegetables became a staple in my dietary intake. I cut out any and all sugars, fast food and kept fat intake to a minimal in exchange for healthier fats such as olive oil and coconut oil. I stopped using butter or margarine and the only liquid I consumed was water. With this, I started to notice an immediate change in my physique and how I felt within the first few weeks.
I am a registered Nurse at RGH and work the overnight shift which made my diet plan a bit more difficult to stick with. Within the first couple of months of making this lifestyle change, I lost approximately 20 pounds. My coworkers and family were beginning to notice drastic changes in my face and body. They continued to encourage and support me with my weight loss success. Due to this, my motivation was at an all time high and I was now fully engaged into this lifestyle change. I was meeting and making new friends at the gym and Skyzone. It was supportive to be around like minded people that shared the same lifestyle goals. A few months into this lifestyle change, I realized that this time around was not going to be another "yo-yo" diet and it was going to be the permanent lifestyle for me for years to come. This is who I would become for the rest of my life.
Currently, I weigh in at 210 pounds with 17% body fat. That's a 60 pound difference and an 18% change in body fat. I have noticed that I am now sleeping better and my overall health is better. When I started my weight loss, my waist size was a 44 and is currently a 34 waist. It is nice to be able to dress in nicer clothes and not always have to wear sweatpants or active wear clothes that were more "comfortable" to be in due to my size.
Due to the overall great success I have achieved, I have reached a new goal in my life and have started training with a professional body building trainer named Joe Christiano. My goal is to enter my first ever all natural body building show in the Spring of 2015. To accommodate and train for this, my diet and workout has changed slightly but is still based in the basic foundation of clean eating and calorie counting. Over the past couple of months i have also managed to catch the attention and friendship of Greg Schaper. Who gave me an opportunity as a training coach for Skyzone since they were looking to hire on another person to teach their classes. I was thrilled just being considered, let alone be hired! I am now a full-time member of the skyzone team and family. I still train there 3-4 days per week. It's the perfect job for me and I absolutely love it.
Overall, I am very happy with the changes that I have made in my life. I will say, these changes were challenging at times but I was able to keep motivated to make this lifestyle change. I was also blessed with a great support system that helped me keep motivated and on track. I am glad that I made these changes and plan to never look back!"
